48,910 fans watched an exciting game at The Looney Bin. The Bristol Blasters
ended a long winless drought and topped the Minnesota Loons by the slimmest
of margins, 4 to 3.
The game was decided in the top of the 9th inning. Harry McCurdy laced a
one-base hit. Jimmy Welsh came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Branch Russell then doubled scoring the run. Minnesota had 14 hits in the
game while Bristol had 7, but Bristol had the more timely hits.
The win went to Walter Johnson(4-4) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Watty Clark(5-7) took the loss in relief. For Bristol the victory was a
welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling in their last ten games with a
disappointing 1-9 record. Minnesota has a record of 76-63 after the loss.
