46,937 fans were treated to a fine game at Rolling Thunder Park as only one
run separated the combatants at game's end. The Denver Dingers won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
The game was won by Denver when they scored a run in the 8th inning. Alex
Metzler singled. Tank Carr stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice
bunt. One out later, Reuben Jones then smacked a single scoring the run.
Hibbing threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Eddie Rommel(3-7) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning. Rommel
was helped out by Wizard Rosell who recorded his 19th save. Tommy
Thomas(22-8) was tagged with the loss.
'You have to give Hibbing credit, they fought us tough to the end' Wayne
Stanko said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the
victory.'
