The Bumpass BS nipped the Mid-World Bumblers 5 to 4 at The Wastelands in a
hard fought contest.
Bumpass scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning. Martin Dihigo
drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Pythias Russ came up and he
delivered a base-hit. Harvey Hendrick then ripped a base-knock. Luther
Farrell was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Pat Collins stepped into
the box and laced a base-knock scoring the run. Red Ryan, after tossing a
perfect ninth, was credited with his 15th save.
The victory went to Ted Lyons(20-9) who went 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. The loss was charged to Dick Redding(3-3) in relief. He allowed 4 hits
and 1 walk in 3 innings.
