Wade Johnston had 2 base hits and Oscar Levis went the distance at Mile High
Ballpark as the sizzling Denver Dingers won a thriller over the ice-cold
Savannah Rumrunners in, 3 to 2.
The deciding run was scored by Denver in the bottom of the 9th. After two
were out Reuben Jones ripped a single. Frankie Frisch stepped up next and he
drew a walk. Ghost Marcell then stroked a single resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Denver and the 49,652 home town fans in attendance. Denver
rapped out 10 hits for the afternoon.
Levis(12-4) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Big Bill
Gatewood(2-5) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 1 hit and no walks in
2 and 2/3 innings.
