Right fielder Otto Velez had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at The Rum Cellar as the
Pittsburgh Bichipoos beat the Savannah Rumrunners by the count of 6 to
5.
Pittsburgh came up with all the runs they needed in the 1st inning when they
scored 6 runs on 4 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Ken Clay who
deflated the crowd as he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond. Both
teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that
point.
The winning pitcher was Gary Lavelle(10-8) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Dave Campbell was credited with his 11th save. Steve Carlton(11-7)
absorbed the loss.
