TEAM RISP- Quicks: 4 for 15 Rumrunners: 2 for 9
With the hometown crowd on the edge of their seats, Savannah Rumrunners came
from behind to top Pinch Quicks, 9 to 8.
Savannah won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 4 hits.
Len Pigg started the inning off right when he laced a base-hit. Goose Tatum
stepped into the batter's box and he bombed a two-run dinger. Granny Hamner
then doubled. Verdell Mathis then unleashed a wild pitch. Bobby Hogue
stepped into the box and ripped a one-base hit making Savannah the winners
and sending the 46,486 fans home happy. Despite scoring in 6 separate
innings, Pinch could not get the win.
Hogue(6-3) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Mathis(6-10)
was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits without
retiring a batter.
