Hank Aaron went yard and had 3 RBI at The Couch as the Savannah Rumrunners won
in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Pittsburgh Bichipoos by the count
of 9 to 6.
Savannah scored the winning runs in the 9th inning when they tallied 5 runs on
5 hits. The biggest moment was provided by John Romano who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he belted a three-run homer. Savannah out-hit Pittsburgh
for the game, 13 hits to 10.
Billy Loes(8-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Loes got relief
help from Tom Morgan who gained credit for his 27th save. Dick Lemay(2-4)
was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 1 inning and surrendered 3 hits
and no walks.
HonusWagner's Ghost was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm
not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Savannah's manager will be glad
to talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
