26,218 fans were treated to a fine game at Municipal Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Sugarland Skeeters ended a long
winless drought and won by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Sugarland had 3 runs cross the plate in the 7th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The highlight belonged to Bob Will who made the crowd happy when he
doubled bringing home two baserunners. Hibbing threatened in the 9th but
Sugarland was able to put down the rally.
The win went to Bill Fischer(2-2) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Fischer got help from Wes Stock who earned his 2nd save. Don Cardwell(15-14)
took the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 5 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.
