47,894 fans watched an exciting game at Busch Stadium. The Georgia Rumrunners
topped the Galifrey Time Lords by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Georgia scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning scoring 2 runs utilizing
2 base hits. Tim Foli got things going when he was hit by a pitch. Mike
Hargrove next to the plate and he doubled. Ted Simmons then doubled plating
two runs. Galifrey threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Jim Rooker(10-8) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. Steve Foucault
gained credit for his 33rd save. Bert Blyleven(12-7) was the loser. He
surrendered 9 hits and no walks in 9 innings.
'Some losses are harder to take than others' Lee Wilbur lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
