In a good matchup it was the St Paul Saints 5, the Minnesota Loons 3 in 10
innings at The Looney Bin.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. St Paul came out on
top in the 10th inning. Tommy Henrich kicked off the action when he doubled.
Roy Campanella followed and he ripped a one-base hit. After an out was
recorded, Jack Lohrke then tripled scoring two baserunners. Nellie Fox
followed next and he worked the squeeze play to perfection scoring the final
run of the inning. St Paul out-hit Minnesota for the game, 11 hits to 6.
Bill Peace(3-2) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Tom Ferrick was
credited with his 19th save. Ralph Buxton(0-2) took the loss in relief.
St Paul remained hot, improving their record to 69-52. They now have a record
of 9-1 in recent days. Minnesota has a record of 56-69 after the loss.
