WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Glenn Wright robbed Harvey Hendrick of a base hit.
Rev Cannady collected 2 extra-base hits at The GAS as the Bumpass BS won in
dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Savannah Rumrunners by the count of
5 to 4.
Bumpass scored the winning runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs using 3 hits.
After an out was recorded, Big Cat Johnson started the attack as he drew a
walk. Luther Farrell stepped into the batter's box and he doubled. Jack
Scott then lined a base-hit bringing in a run. Scott took second on the
throw. Johnny Mokan followed and he ripped a one-base hit giving Bumpass the
victory and sending the 16,851 home-town fans home happy. Bumpass finished
with 11 hits while Savannah ended up with 5.
The win was credited to Bobby Burke(3-1) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Big Bill Gatewood(1-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an
inning giving up 2 hits and no walks.
'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Jason Hinkledire offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a
great time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
