Ted Simmons jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI as the Georgia
Rumrunners defeated the Minnesota Loons 7 to 5 at Three Rivers Stadium.
The Georgia fans enjoyed the offense provided by Simmons. He tripled knocking
in a run in the 1st inning, lashed a single which scored a run in the 5th
inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 7th
inning. Minnesota threatened in the 9th but Georgia was able to put down the
rally.
Doc Medich(10-6) allowed 3 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Steve Foucault recorded the save, his 28th. The losing pitcher was
Joe Decker(10-8). He gave up 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
Chris Kaufman was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
