Lee Stevens jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI and John Smoltz
completed the game without help from the bullpen at Jacob's Field where the
Iowa MoonlightGraham beat the Bristol Blasters 7 to 3.
Iowa claimed the early lead in the first inning when they came up with 2 runs
on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Stevens who made the Iowa fans
a happy lot when he doubled plating two runs. Iowa banged out 9 hits on the
night.
The victory was credited to Smoltz(7-0) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. Sterling Hitchcock(1-5) absorbed the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls
in 4 innings.
