Mel Parnell had a strong outing at Silver Slapper Park as the Bristol Blasters
beat the Sterling Silver Sluggers 2 to 0.
Bristol went ahead for good in the top of the 4th inning plating an isolated
run utilizing 2 base hits. Phil Rizzuto ripped a one-base hit. Milt Smith
stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Gil Hodges
then doubled scoring the run. Bristol had only 5 hits for the night.
For Parnell(14-12) it was his 4th shutout this year. Warren Spahn(8-12)
suffered the loss. He surrendered just 5 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
