TEAM RISP- Timbers: 4 for 6 Black Knights: 2 for 9
In a thriller the Michigan Timbers staged a dramatic comeback then held on to
win over the Towanda Black Knights by a score of 6 to 4 at Muehlebach
Field.
Michigan won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning as they scored
4 runs on 5 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Hooks Johnson who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he doubled bringing in two
baserunners. Towanda proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
The winning pitcher was Doolittle Young(1-2) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Young was helped out by Wilcy Moore who recorded his 4th save. Porter
Charleston(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief.
Charleston was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
