In a great finish the Colorado 14ers came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the Providence Red Pandas by a score of 4 to 3 at
Corruption Park.

Colorado scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Elmer Valo got things going when he reached on an
error. Valo was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Hoot Evers
then lined a one-base hit. Bob Wilson stepped in and he ripped a base-hit
scoring a single run. Wilson took second on the throw. Ted Kluszewski came
to the plate and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Charlie Silvera
kept the rally going and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning.
Both teams totaled 6 hits on the afternoon.

Bill Werle(5-2) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Werle
got help from Dave Koslo who earned his 15th save. Jack Banta(4-7) absorbed
the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.

David Kufkafka was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last
at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there?
You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what
makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over
'til its over.'
