37,746 fans were treated to a fine game at Bright Health Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Sterling Silver Sluggers finally
stopped their 5 slide with the victory and won by the slimmest of margins, 4
to 3.

Sterling scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning plating 3
runs on 4 hits.  After an out was recorded, Bob Dillinger began the Sterling
spurt when he banged out a single.  Marty Marion stepped up next and he hit a
single.  After another out, Bob Kennedy then doubled knocking home two
runners.  Marv Rickert followed next and he laced a one-base hit scoring the
final run of the inning.  Sterling managed 8 hits in their victory.  

The win went to Billy Powell(10-10) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Ted
Alexander gained credit for his 9th save.  Dave Koslo(6-8) suffered the loss
in relief.
