Ryne Sandberg slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Sterling Silver Sluggers
defeated the Minnesota Loons by the score of 9 to 2 at Windblown
Stadium.

Sterling took the lead for good in the 2nd inning with 2 runs using 2 hits.
Jeff Kent started the inning off right when he doubled.  Sandy Alomar came to
the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Dean Palmer was next to bat, but
he was a strikeout victim.  Sandberg came up and he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run.  Minnesota was out-hit by Sterling, 12 hits to 6.  

The victory went to Jimmy Haynes(2-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Steve Trachsel(2-6) was given the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9
hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
