TEAM RISP- Silver Sluggers: 5 for 13 Royalty: 3 for 9
Max Carey had 2 base hits and 4 RBI at The Palace as the Cincinatti Royalty
beat the Sterling Silver Sluggers 8 to 7.
Cincinatti scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. After two
were out Dick Lundy hit a bases-empty home run. Sterling made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The victory was credited to Vic Aldridge(10-4) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. William Bell preserved the game for Aldridge, recording his
his 12th save. Burleigh Grimes(7-8) was tagged with the loss in relief.
'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Connie Mack said. 'We did
what we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
