Shortstop Buzz Clarkson smacked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Mile High Stadium
as the Denver Dingers won in their last at-bat beating the St Paul Saints by
the count of 6 to 5.
The game was won by Denver with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After
an out was recorded, Piper Davis tripled. Clarkson followed and he was
walked intentionally. Bob Elliott then was walked intentionally to load the
bases. After another out, Elbie Fletcher came up and he ripped a base-hit
giving Denver the win as 47,764 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Denver
managed 13 hits in their victory.
The victory was credited to Dizzy Trout(1-3) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Rayford Finch(6-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 3
hits and 2 walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
With this win, Denver has a 39-31 record. They have been 5-5 lately. The
loss by St Paul interrupted a nice 8-2 recent run.
