In a good matchup it was the Galifrey Time Lords 6, the Pittsburgh Bichipoos 3
at Busch Stadium.
Galifrey brought 3 runs across the plate in the 7th inning with the help of 3
hits. After an out was recorded, Doug Griffin initiated the scoring spurt
when he drew a walk. Carl Yastrzemski next to the plate and he doubled.
Gene Tenace then launched a three-run homer. Both teams finished the game
with 10 hits.
The win went to Randy Jones(6-6) who allowed 3 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. John
Hiller got the save, his 7th. The losing pitcher was Doug Rau(4-5) in
relief.
For Galifrey the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling
in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. With the loss
Pittsburgh now has a record of 31-37, worst in the division.
