Dick Brown slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Sterling Silver Sluggers
beat the The Little Feat in 10 innings by a score of 8 to 7.
The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings. Sterling was victorious
in the 10th inning. Harmon Killebrew slapped a single. Bill Virdon stepped
up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Roger Maris then was walked
intentionally. After another out, Brown came up and he reached on an error.
Roy McMillan came to the plate and lined a single making Sterling the victor
and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Sterling totaled 15 hits on
the afternoon.
The win was credited to Jim Brosnan(6-4) who went 3 innings allowing no runs.
Phil Regan(3-1) was the loser in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in 2
innings.
