In a tight game it was the Providence Red Pandas 4, the Denver Dingers 2 at
Corruption Park.
Denver was unable to claim the lead after Providence went ahead in the 4th
inning plating 2 runs on 3 base hits. Neil Robinson started the inning off
right when he doubled. Duke Snider stepped up to the plate and he laced a
base-knock. Snider took off for second and slid in with a stolen base.
After an out was recorded, Paul Campbell came to bat and lashed a single
driving home two runs. Jack Banta was perfect in relief and got the save,
his 12th.
Hank Borowy(8-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Earnest Long(4-9) suffered the loss. He pitched 6 innings
giving up 7 hits and no walks.
