Hank Aaron homered and had 2 RBI at Memorial Stadium as the Savannah
Rumrunners beat the Minnesota Loons 6 to 4.
Savannah set the tone of the game in the first inning plating 2 runs on 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Floyd Robinson jump-started the rally as he
banged out a single. Aaron stepped up to the plate and he lifted one out of
the park for a two run home run. Savannah won despite being out-hit by
Minnesota 12 hits to 9.
Tom Morgan(3-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Jim Kaat(7-7)
was the loser. The Savannah ballclub's record now stands at 38-45.
Minnesota's manager was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been
sputtering along lately, something like 0-10 in the last week or two. That
won't get it done.'
