The Sterling Silver Sluggers readily handled ice-cold Tenth Avenue Freezeouts
by a score of 10 to 6 at Silver Slapper Park.
Sterling took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning with 2 runs on 2 base hits.
Bob Kennedy led off and got things going when he doubled. Marv Rickert
stepped into the batter's box and he doubled bringing in a run. After an out
was recorded, Stan Spence then would ground out scoring the final run of the
inning. Although they lost, Tenth Avenue did out-hit Sterling 15 to 12.
Fred Hutchinson(4-5) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Bob
Feller(3-6) was the loser. He was unable to control the Sterling offense and
allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
