Rumrunners topped the Pittsburgh Bichipoos by the slimmest of margins, 5 to
4.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Savannah won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning. Goose Goslin reached on an error.
Bobby Reeves stepped up to the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Babe
Ruth then was walked intentionally. One out later, Glenn Wright came up and
he stroked a single resulting in an exciting win for Savannah and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Savannah ended up with 12 hits
for the game while Pittsburgh had 8.
The win was credited to Lefty Grove(4-7) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Butch Glass(3-5) was the loser in relief. He surrendered no hits and no
walks in 1/3 of an inning.
