The Minnesota Loons ended a long winless drought and bested the Queen Qiller
Bees by a 6 to 3 score at County Stadium.
Minnesota brought 4 runs across the plate in the 3rd inning with the help of 4
hits. That early scoring held up. Minnesota finished with 11 hits while
Queen ended up with 7.
The victory was credited to Jim Kaat(5-4) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Stu Miller preserved the game for Kaat, recording his his 4th save. Harvey
Haddix(1-5) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 4
runs in 3 innings.
'We really needed this win' said Minnesota's manager. 'That first drink of
water at the end of a drought sure does taste good!'
