Wilbur Wood delivered 9 solid innings and Bake McBride had 2 base hits at
Three Rivers Stadium as the Detroit Polecats beat the Georgia Rumrunners 5 to
1.
Detroit started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first plating an isolated run using 3 hits. Detroit banged out 12 hits on
the night.
Wood(9-6) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Doc Medich(7-5)
was the loser. He was unable to control the Detroit offense and allowed 11
hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
'Wood just dominated us' losing pitcher Medich said. 'Hopefully we can get to
him the next time around'
