First baseman Lou Gehrig hit a homerun and had 3 RBI and Jesse Haines allowed
only 1 hit resulting in a big goose egg on the scoreboard for Minnesota as
the Iowa MoonlightGraham defeated the Minnesota Loons by the score of 7 to 0
at The Looney Bin.
The Minnesota fans didn't appreciate the big day Gehrig had. He stroked a
single in the 1st inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 7th inning and
tripled knocking in a run in the 8th inning. Iowa had 16 hits for the
afternoon.
Haines(3-6) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Pete
Alexander(5-2) ended up with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits and
2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
