At The Rum Cellar, the Savannah faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel. Fergie Jenkins(1-5) finally bested his Savannah counterpart,
Nolan Ryan(4-4), by the score of 1 to 0.
Jenkins gave The Little a solid outing. He was reached for 6 hits and no
walks in 6 innings. Savannah threatened in the 9th but The Little was able
to put down the rally.
Kent Tekulve preserved the game for Jenkins, recording his his 8th save. Ryan
was hit with the loss. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an
earned run in his 7 innings of work.
Wth the win The Little now has a record of 13-21. Savannah can't seem to snap
out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 0-10 record over the
last couple weeks.
