Sal Bando hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Towanda Black Knights rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Denver Dingers, 5 to 4.
Towanda won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 3 hits.
Oscar Gamble kicked off the action when he smacked a single. Pete Vuckovich
then threw a pitch that the catcher muffed. Carlton Fisk then drew a walk.
Dan Meyer stepped in and he ripped a base-knock to load the bases. After an
out was recorded, Joe Rudi stepped up to the plate and he doubled giving
Towanda the victory as 40,707 happy fans celebrated wildly. Although they
lost, Denver did out-hit Towanda 12 to 6.
Lerrin Lagrow(4-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Vuckovich(0-5) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 3
hits in 2/3 of an inning.
