Pedro Martinez whiffed 13 batters at Dodger Stadium as the St Paul Saints beat
the Savannah Rumrunners by the count of 2 to 0.
Martinez(7-0) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Savannah batters. He surrendered only 2 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings. Both
teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that
point.
Darren Dreifort preserved the game for Martinez, recording his his 3rd save.
Tom Glavine(6-4) was the loser. Martinez, when asked about his 13 strikeout
performance noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we
lose, what good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it
feels great!'
