Dick Burrus had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Minnesota Loons defeated the
Denver Dingers in 10 innings by the score of 10 to 9 at The Looney Bin.
Both teams were tied at 9 runs apiece after nine innings. Minnesota won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning. Harry Rice slapped a single. Chuck
Dressen followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Burrus then lashed a
single resulting in an exciting win for Minnesota and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans. This was the kind of game that many fans
love as the lead changed hands 6 times.
The victory was credited to Bill Drake(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Eddie Rommel(0-2) in relief.
