The Gallifrey Time Lords and the Pinch Quicks locked up in an exciting one-run
game at The Coal Bowl. The final score was the Gallifrey Time Lords 6, the
Pinch Quicks 5.
Gallifrey had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 3
runs using 2 hits. Dick Wakefield began the Gallifrey spurt when he hit a
bases-empty home run. After an out was recorded, Ready Cash came up and he
drew a walk. One out later, Bob Boyd then drew a walk. George Kell was up
next and he doubled which accounted for two additional runs. Pinch tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
The winning pitcher was Lefty Lamarque(4-2) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings.
Lamarque was helped out by Booker McDaniel who recorded his 3rd save. The
losing pitcher was Jeep Jessup(2-4). He served up 3 homeruns in his 7 and
2/3 innings.
