Tris Speaker had 2 base hits at The Rum Cellar where the Cincinatti Royalty
beat the Savannah Rumrunners 2 to 1.
Frank Stevens(1-0) won the game with a masterful relief performance. No one
got on base in his 1 inning seeing his ERA drop from 3.86 to 2.70. Savannah
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Stevens was helped out by Dutch Henry who recorded his 2nd save. Lefty
Grove(1-4) took the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 innings and
not allowing an earned run.
'You have to give Savannah credit, they fought us tough to the end' John
O'Neal said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the
victory.'
