26,369 fans watched an exciting game at Griffith Stadium. The Bristol
Blasters ended a long winless drought and topped the Savannah Rumrunners by
the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Bristol came out on top in the
10th inning. Willie Mays drew a walk. Gordy Coleman next to the plate and
he stroked a base-hit. Ernie Banks then hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run.
Savannah out-hit Bristol 15 to 10, but Bristol ended up with more runs.
The victory went to Ray Moore(2-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Bill
Henry preserved the game for Moore, recording his his 2nd save. Carl
Willey(0-4) was charged with the loss in relief.
