Catcher Len Pigg went deep and had 3 RBI as the Savannah Rumrunners outscored
the The Little Feat 13 to 7.
The Little was unable to claim the lead after Savannah went ahead in the
bottom of the 4th inning with 3 runs utilizing 5 base hits. Stan Musial led
off the inning for Savannah when he ripped a single. Pigg stepped up next
and he slapped a one-base hit. Mickey Harris then unleashed a wild pitch.
Bud Stewart came up and he singled scoring a run. Bobby Thomson came to the
plate and doubled plating another run. Two outs later Del Ennis came to bat
and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. This was the kind of game
that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The win went to Steve Gromek(5-0) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. Harris(0-1)
was given the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in 1 inning.
