Mark Leiter didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and Joey Cora had 3 base
hits and 3 RBI at Turner Field as the Gallifrey Time Lords beat the Denver
Dingers 5 to 4.
Ricardo Rincon(3-0) was given credit for the win. He allowed 2 hits and no
walks in 1 and 2/3 innings. The right-handed Leiter lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Gary Sheffield homered with one out in the 6th inning. Denver
could do no damage in the 9th.
Rincon got help from John Franco who was credited with his 9th save. Paul
Spoljaric(0-2) was charged with the loss in relief.
It was another victory for Gallifrey at Turner Field. Now their winning
streak stands at 6 games.
