Zygton fans certainly got their money's worth at Double Wide Park. Larry
Gura(1-0) pitched a rare no-hitter as the Zygton Zabra toppled the Sterling
Silver Sluggers 2 to 0.
Gura was obviously at the top of his game as he set the Sterling batters down
like so many dominoes. He only walked one Sterling batter. The Zygton
players and coaches started to leave Gura alone with his thoughts after the
game reached the 7th inning. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, you
could hear a pin drop every time he went to his wind-up - and an explosion
after every out. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no
runs scored after that point.
Carl Morton(3-4) was the losing pitcher. It took a while to pry Gura way from
his teammates as they all wanted to show their appreciation and joy.
Finally, however, Zygton's manager got to offer his own congratulations with
a big bear hug and the comment, 'That was one of the best pitched games I
have seen in all my years in baseball - Gura was masterful out there
tonight!'
