The Denver Dingers defeated the Minnesota Loons by a score of 4 to 1 at Mile
High Stadium.
Denver scored 2 runs in the decisive 2nd inning with the help of 3 hits. Buzz
Clarkson led off and started the rally when he banged out a single. Sam
Chapman followed next and he stroked a single. Bob Elliott then laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Elbie Fletcher followed and he singled scoring two
teammates. That scoring would be all that was needed. Denver rapped out 8
hits for the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Murry Dickson(5-4) who allowed no runs in 7 innings.
Dizzy Trout earned the save, his 12th. Joe Dobson(1-2) was charged with the
loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 walks.
