The Georgia Rumrunners bested the Galifrey Time Lords by a 5 to 2 score at
Three Rivers Stadium.
Georgia tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they came up with
3 base hits. Dick Ruthven led off and he ripped a base-knock. Bill Buckner
came to the plate and banged out a single. Derrel Thomas then reached on an
error resulting in a run. Pat Kelly was the next batter, but he struck out.
One out later, Mike Hargrove came to bat and ripped a single accounting for
two more runs. That scoring would be all that was needed. Georgia took care
of Galifrey with no trouble in the 9th.
The victory was credited to Ruthven(3-2) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Ruthven got help from Steve Foucault who earned his 10th save. Jim
Perry(1-4) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 8 innings giving up 9 hits and
2 walks.
