The Sterling Silver Sluggers edged the Cincinatti Royalty in 12 innings at
Wrigley Field by the score of 5 to 4.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Sterling ended up winning it in the 12th
inning. Roy McMillan opened up the inning nicely when he laced a one-base
hit. Bobby Richardson followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bill
Skowron then cracked a two-run shot. Sterling won despite being out-hit by
Cincinatti 16 hits to 7.
The win was credited to Jim Brosnan(3-1) who went 3 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Joe Nuxhall preserved the game for Brosnan, recording his his 1st
save. Dick Drott(0-4) absorbed the loss in relief.
