40,179 fans were treated to a fine game at Arlington Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The The Little Feat won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
The Little came up with 2 runs in the 5th inning when they had 4 base hits.
Willie Stargell led off and got things going when he smacked a single. After
an out was recorded, Elrod Hendricks came to the plate and slapped a one-base
hit. After another out, Steve Rogers then laced a base-knock to load the
bases. Bill Madlock came up and he hit a single plating two runs. Galifrey
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.
The victory was credited to Rogers(4-3) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Rogers got help from Pedro Borbon who earned his 10th save. Jim
Perry(2-6) was the losing pitcher.
'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Galifrey's manager 'but it's losing the
close ones that really hurt.'
