Left fielder Darin Erstad had 2 base hits and Pete Smith had an impressive
outing as the Savannah Rumrunners defeated the Michigan Timbers 5 to 4 at
Dodger Stadium.
Savannah had 3 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning when they
had 4 base hits. They ended up being the winning runs. Smith(2-0) got help
from Jeff Shaw who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 4th
save.
Julian Tavarez(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 1 run
and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
