40,238 fans watched an exciting game at Memorial Coliseum. The Colorado 14ers
ended a long winless drought and topped the Minnesota Loons by the slimmest
of margins, 3 to 2.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Colorado ended up winning it
in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Billy Hoeft drew a walk.
Gene Woodling followed next and he lashed a single. Albie Pearson then laced
a base-knock making Colorado the winners and sending the 40,238 fans home
happy. Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the night.

Hoeft(3-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing no
runs. Dave Hillman(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.

David Kufkafka was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of
games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can
relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
