The Cincinatti Royalty came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 6 to
5.
Cincinatti won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 2
runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Tris Speaker jump-started the
rally as he drew a walk. Pie Traynor stepped into the batter's box and he
doubled. Freddy Leach then was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Jimmie Wilson was up next and he drew a walk knocking in a run. Ambrose Reid
came up to bat and singled scoring the final run of the inning. Herb
Bradley(1-0) was helped out by William Bell who pitched a perfect ninth and
recorded his 2nd save.
The loss was charged to Sheriff Blake(0-1). He was touched for 13 hits and 4
walks in 9 innings. 'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Blake said. 'The
bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than
this.'
