Right fielder Ty Cobb had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Sterling Silver
Sluggers bested the The Little Feat 6 to 4 at Lowell George Park.
Sterling won the game with a rally in the 8th inning plating 3 runs utilizing
2 base hits. Cliff Heathcote kicked off the action when he drew a walk.
Edgar Wesley came next and he stroked a one-base hit. Cobb then tripled
driving in two more baserunners. Sharkey Sweatt followed and he hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. Both teams ended up with
11 hits on the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Doug McWeeny(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Everready Roberts got the save, his 8th. Charlie Robertson(1-1) was
the loser in relief.
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Connie Mack sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
