Freddie Patek had 2 base hits and Jack Billingham had an impressive outing at
RI Field (The Bowl) as the Bristol Blasters beat the Pittsburgh Bichipoos by
the count of 1 to 0.
Billingham(1-2) pitched a solid game. He gave up just 3 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings reducing his ERA from 6.75 to 4.05. Pittsburgh made it exciting in
the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Grant Jackson earned his 1st save. John D'Acquisto(1-3) took the loss. He
was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the
game.
Pittsburgh's manager was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in
the press box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
