Slats Newkirk went 5 strong innings as the Iowa MoonlightGraham defeated the
Pittsburgh Bichipoos in 10 innings by a score of 4 to 3 at The
Cornfield.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Iowa was victorious in
the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Vern Stephens drew a walk.
After another out, Dave Philley stepped in and he ripped a base-hit. Jim
Gilliam then drew a walk to load the bases. Howard Easterling came up and he
reached on an error making Iowa the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Both teams finished the game with 7 hits.
Mike Garcia(1-2) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Al
