Ken Heintzelman took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Wrigley Field as the
St Paul Saints beat the Hibbing Dylans in 11 innings 1 to 0.
The game was a scoreless tie after nine. St Paul won the game in the 11th
inning. Bob Lemon singled. Mark Resenbrink then called for a steal which
was successful. Grady Hatton then would hit into a fielders choice making St
Paul the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. St Paul
finished with just 3 hits in the victory.
John W Brown(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. The left-handed Heintzelman had his no-hit bid broken up by Harry
Rhodes who singled with two outs in the 7th inning. The losing pitcher was
Raul Galata(1-2) in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing
an earned run in his 2 innings of work.
'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered Mark Resenbrink. Now, we just have to make this the norm -
not the exception!'
